Omnilert's 'SMS Inbox' Improves Management Of An Incident By Administrators Via Improved Situational Awareness
Omnilert announced the introduction of the "SMS Inbox," a revolutionary new feature designed to organize incoming responses for emergency alerts. This in turn makes it easy for administrators to better manage an incident via enhanced situational awareness. Leveraging the new feature, system administrators will also be able to quickly respond back to individual recipients through SMS text messages directly from the SMS Inbox cloud-based interface. Omnilert is providing the new feature at no additional costs to all e2Campus and Amerilert accounts.
With SMS Inbox, students, citizens, first responders, employees, as well as other members of the community, will be able to respond to text message alerts and actively engage with emergency response administrators, providing them with vital information which can help optimize how respondents respond to an emergency.
Alternatively, the user can also make requests asking for assistance during an emergency through native text messages. Anytime disaster strikes, most communication systems go down or are able to provide only limited communications support. During such emergencies, text messaging can be the best way to maintain communication.
In a statement, Gerald Volpe, Operations Manager for Student Development at Colby-Sawyer College said that, "This is a fantastic addition to e2Campus, and one I can see lots of benefit to. It gives us a way to make it more interactive and gather information when we're using the system for an emergency. This is a real value added feature to an already valuable service. e2Campus gives us the perfect tool to keep everyone informed."
The cloud-based SMS Inbox can be used by alert recipients to quickly respond to text messages, either directly or by using their organization's keyword at the start of the text reply. These text alert responses are delivered to the administrator's SMS Inbox within a matter of few seconds. Clients without SMS Reply active who are interested in activating SMS Inbox can contact their dedicated Account Manager to include this free feature into their applications list.
