Clickatell Connect API Helps Software Developers Embed SMS into Applications
Clickatell (News - Alert), a mobile messaging provider, released a new application programming interface, “Connect API” that is designed to help software developers embed short-message service (SMS), account creation and management functionality into their applications.
Bill Wolfe, Clickatell’s chief strategy officer and EVP for small and medium business said, “It is our goal to provide a reliable, simple solution for application developers to work with any system to set up and send messages throughout the Americas region. We believe these new APIs address some of the biggest concerns for software developers and we're excited to share this new offering with our customers.”
Officials explained that the Connect API will let developers embed Clickatell’s global SMS messaging services in their applications to reduce friction when used in reminder, update or marketing services. Also, developers can avoid typical messaging reseller responsibilities and licensing since the billing for messaging responsibility is managed by Clickatell directly with the end-user.
Developers can leverage the XML-based Connect API and embed the ability for end users to register for a new Clickatell account. End users can also activate the account, configure an API for the account besides being able to manage the account, purchase credits for the account, purchase two way messaging capabilities and monitor account status.
Clickatell messaging gateway lets customers send messages to mobile phones across the globe to more than 900 mobile networks covering 220 countries and territories, said officials.
The Small Business API offering from Clickatell enables globally distributed businesses to connect with customers in the Americas. This easy-to-use text messaging solution offers flexible subscription options to suit business requirements. Clickatell’s messaging APIs are embedded in its Small Business API solution, which connects customers immediately to any mobile operator in the Americas or in its Global SMS Gateway (News - Alert).
Earlier this year, Clickatell announced that Truth On Call selected its messaging solution to poll physicians about industry devices or drugs on behalf of manufacturers. Clickatell’s solution will provide “global short messaging service (SMS) delivery, 24/7 live support, short code provisioning and easy-to-use APIs” to deliver its mobile polling service to healthcare providers.
